whats with he policy of giving every character now a days an ongoing series expect for the x-men characters im not into the whole x-men conspicary theories but off the top of my head a CABLE CYCLOPS MYSTIQUE OR MAGNETO book would easily outsell almost half the flotsam and jetsam of books you guys release every month. Hell i still have several customers asking why the magneto book didnt return after secret wars as it was a very steady consisent seller

brevoortformspring answered:

CABLE, CYCLOPS, MYSTIQUE and MAGNETO all had books, and all of those books ultimately went away–and for the same reason. That doesn’t mean that we won’t try series with those characters again, but trying other, different things is just as likely if not more likely to produce something that will actually click, rather than just doing the same thing over and over again.

X-Men characters have never really ran deep with solo titles. Cyclops, Storm, and Magneto all having their titles was a unique occurrence in my time as a reader. X-Men solo titles haven’t traditionally blown up the charts from what I remember, either. Most people seem to like their X-Men in ensemble casts.

Wolverine and Logan being the sole, solo bearers is par for the course. This makes even more sense when you consider the X-Men line has been pared down from where it was in the past, and the current state of mutantdom in the Marvel universe.

Cable, Cyke & Magneto all do their best stuff on teams - so why would they get a solo title when frankly, they LEAD the teams they’re on?

Wolverine works as a solo because he’s *not* the best team leader. (and no, I don’t like Laura as ‘wolverine’. She’s a cheap knockoff.)
